THE PARALYMPICS AND THEIR AMAZING ATHLETES -- coming soon
What will I say then? Of course,
ChooseAbility!

NBC' OLYMPIC SPORTS COVERAGE
Once again, what can I say, but
ChooseAbility!

What will it take to get NBC or any other major network
to carry THE PARALYMPIC Games? If you build it, they will come. (The Field of dreams).
With the speed in which information travels around the globe and the variety of what we see every day through the Internet, radio waves and television, it is perplexing why there hasn't been a major network with the guts to showcase a venue that I know will attract millions of viewers. Many of the sponsors linked to THE PARALYMPICS are the same ones that sponsored THE OLYMPIC GAMES! The athletes are getting their equipment from the same companies that provide the equipment for the Olympic athletes. Once again, I will make my final point: watching Olympic athletes compete and do extraordinary things with their bodies is definitely exciting. Many of their stories are quite interesting as well. I use a motorized wheelchair and I have spent most of my life (39 years) sitting in a wheelchair of some kind. When I saw THE PARALYMPICS for the first time, I was not only struck by watching these athletes competing with one arm, no arms, no legs, one leg, artificial legs, etc., I found it to be exhilarating and a whole lot of fun. These are serious athletes competing with the same goals as the Olympic athletes. People must understand -- the Paralympics should not be confused with the Special Olympics which is a totally different venue. I am not trying to diminish the Special Olympics, but the Paralympic athletes make a lot of the same difficult sacrifices as do the Olympic athletes. Just like the Olympians, they are the real deal! If you watched the Olympics, you saw NBC highlight the stories behind some of the athletes. Many of them are very compelling. Let me say this: if you believe, as do I, that these stories are compelling, I guarantee you, the Paralympic athletes' stories will be as compelling, if not more. I challenge anyone reading this to find out where you can catch a glimpse of the Paralympic Games. It is then that you will begin to understand what I am talking about.
